When girls create culture they change culture.

The GirlHood is a series of projects that aim to get young women interested in creative careers. In two years, over 200 girls aged 14-24yrs have come through the hood.
Brought about by a need to change the limiting and narrow representations of females in our culture, The GirlHood changes the input in order to change the output.
The original inspiration was to create an all-girl creative bootcamp that would introduce a richer mix of females in to the creative industries. An unapologetic sisterhood of creators that would create a new equality.

Together
To.Get.Her
where she should be...
Initially enlisting the help of sister in crime Natalie Rodden, an outstanding TeachFirst teacher, we ran a series of projects for girls from school age to those at entry career level. There was lots to test and learn. It was resounding that the need for young women to develop their personal and creative confidence and consider both of these in a commercial context exists.
It was also strikingly apparent that the creative industries need to do more to be a welcoming and inclusive place for girls and young women to comfortably own their place and take charge of their creative destiny.
So we stomp on...
The GirlHood can only exist if it's delivered by as rich a mix of women as the community we are aiming to support. The idea was always that the Hood would be a collective and next year will see The GirlHood posse strengthen in numbers and representation. We're unapologetically coming for you.
